Rail loading

Rail Loading - Dont rock the boat
" loading the rail " is a technique good surfers do unconsciously.

this surfer just got up to her feet, but she positioned both feet on the inside (right) rail. Her eyes are up and looking down the line. Perfect rail loading

this is "opposite" rail loading. Her left foot should be over the right stringer, not the left stringer.

again, hard to see but he is loading rail with pressure from his right heel

both his heels are basically scrapping the waves face. eyes up

you can see the wood stringer on the nose. see his front foot is to the right of it

As he steps back , he yet again loads the inside rail. He doesnt need to look down because he knows where his feet are going.

looks like rail loading but she is actually counter weighting. Each foot is on either side of the stringer

As the rail drops or bites, she has to shift her weight again to the opposite side. That left to right motions gets worse and worse

that action is like rocking the boat. Dont do that or you will get thrown off !
