If you want to surf and turn better, you need to remember three things

DOWN UP and AROUND


See the board's nose pointing up ? He is now coming of the bottom ( which was the Down )


See the trail near the curl of the wave ? Now he made his Top turn and coming back Around


look how his left hand in the 2nd and 3rd photo stay in the same place while the body rotates Around


This surfer is amazing ! Look at the deep cut he made on the wave's face. That was the Down to Up transition


Now in a instant he executes a Round House cut back. You can see the old spray still on the wave as the new spray is coming off his rail


Recovering off the Round House he now spots a new turn. Notice he loading up his weight over his heels ?


Same wave, two devastating cutbacks. Down Up Around


Still dont get it ? Here's a easy photo. The trail left by the board goes Down, then Up at the top of the waves shoulder, then lets him come Around.
